We are getting ready to launch our modern, competition-length 25 yard pool. Construction of the new pool started right after the pool closed in September 2025, and work continued all winter (under a giant tent!) All signs point to reopening in time for Summer 2026. 🤞
We are now in the midst of the largest capital campaign in our pool’s history. We’ve already collected $100,000, and now seek $150,000 in donations. Every dollar by May 15 will shrink our construction loan.
Our pool’s story:

Forestbrooke Pool was built in 1960 to anchor the neighborhoods around it.
The original developer turned it over to a volunteer board. For 65 years, the pool has been the heart of this Ann Arbor community.

Labor Day 2025: Our last whirlpool in the Original Forestbrooke. After two years of planning and a $1.2 million grant to launch new-pool dreams for the future, it was time to say goodbye.

Late September: The pool is gone. Digging starts to expand the new pool footprint.

November: Setting up the walls and preparing for concrete.

December: Snow and progress.

February: A giant tent over the construction site allowed work to progress in early 2026.

Winter: Tiling and more, under the tent.

April: We have water! The tent is down, the pool looks great. Now it’s time to work on the deck, more mechanicals and the parking lot.
Our volunteer board and many longtime fans of our nonprofit pool launched our biggest capital campaign in our history.

By April 13, a drone shot shows the pool with water – and an area prepped for the new deck. (Thanks to Charles Roth for the drone images)

Every day gets us closer! This is mid-April. Our new deck is looking good!

What a transformation! The crews are close to departing as of April 22, after adding our new board and fence, and fine-tuning the deck work.

After 29 years in charge of Forestbrooke maintenance – all volunteer – Ron Conn is showing off the pool’s new equipment. The pumphouse is also rejuvenated, along with the former storeroom that has been retrofitted for new CO2 storage and more.

Quite a glow-up for Forestbrooke! This photo gets its drama from the new underwater lights. Also very visible: The new 1-meter diving board, our accessibility lift, and the wide steps – far left – in the shallow end.

May 9: Opening day is getting close, and work continues to get Forestbrooke member-ready. Check out our new deep end! 10 feet at the edge, but a 12-foot well (for the new 1-meter board). We have a lift chair, steps with railing and an expanded deck area next to the clubhouse (with an emergency exit door).
We are still writing the rest of the story! Watch here for updates.
